Week Two Reflection
1. Describe your experience with choreographing a dance routine with your group.
2. What is most challenging about working in a group? Why?
3. After visiting the studio, in what ways do you think you can improve? In what ways do you think others should improve?
4. Explain the changes you have seen after doing yoga for the second week.
The group dancing brings a lot of creativity and competitiveness. You must choreograph your own dance and try to bring a better dance to the audience than other groups. The most challenging thing that comes to play while trying to dance with your groups is uncooperative group members that do not like what everybody else is doing. I think what i need to improve on is focusing on other body parts along with the main parts that are doing the move. As a whole it’d be great if we were more in sync with each other. The changes I've seen are mostly in flexibility and balance. We can do this! ;-)
ReplyDeleteChoreographing a dance routine with my group has been fun, especially because of our choice of music. However, learning a dance routine is difficult because everybody has to be on beat and in sync with each others movements. Being in the studio allows us to see ourselves as we dance, so know we know to be more animated when we dance. After doing yoga for the second week my balance is continuing to improve. Now i can stay in tree pose for a longer period of time.
ReplyDeleteIt’s week two in dance discovery and we have been given the challenge to choreograph a group dance to present in front of our school. To be honest it was difficult to come up with dances that everyone could do or wanted to do, but then we found an experienced student that was willing to guide us through it. The most challenging part of being in a group is the timing and being patient when people make mistakes during the dance and having to do it over. After visiting the studio I thought that the way I moved was stiff and out of sync with my classmates, I did not focus on other students as they danced. After yoga I have noticed that I am becoming more flexible while doing some of the basic poses.

ReplyDeleteThe most challenging thing about working in a group, is deciding which moves to keep and which moves to discard. This is because we have so many great ideas and it often gets hard to decipher between which moves flow and which do not.
After looking at myself in a mirror for two hours I learned that I must be able to control and manipulate my limbs better. I believe as a whole we must become more synchronized.
After two weeks of yoga I have seen that I have become more flexible.
ReplyDeleteMy experience creating a routine has been okay. I really did not like some of the dance moves that we were planning to do because I am more of a slow type of dancer. I do not like dancing at all but when I do dance, I am a slow dancer. The most challenging part of working in a group is the fact that not everybody in the group moves fast and is not a fast learner like me. My favorite part about this project is yoga. I feel like I am becoming more physically flexible.
My experience with choreographing a dance routine with my group is fun because when we get a routine perfect it makes us happy. The most challenging part about working in a group is when some teammates do not want to participate it is really frustrating. After visiting the studio and seeing myself in the mirrors, I see that I can improve by making my hand movements better. In the second week of Yoga it makes me calmer and notice that i'm getting flexible.
ReplyDeleteMy experiences with choreographing a dance routine were very challenging. It was a test for me physically and emotionally. Being surrounded with different types of dance styles within the group, it was difficult at times, but I managed to meet everyone’s needs to be able to come up with the choreography. The most challenging thing about working in a group, is not showing your emotions when people mess up on a move. One of the good qualities about being a good leader is you being able to not give up on your group when things go wrong. After visiting the studio, the ways in which I think I can improve is the way I execute the moves. What I mean by that is, I may be able to do the move, but having the right hand movements and motion is also a key part in dancing where I have to grown on. In what ways I think, others should improve on is also executing the moves to the best of their potential. Not only doing the moves but adding life to it and by showing their passion when they dance. The changes in my body that I have seen after doing yoga for a week is my flexibility. I am able to do moves that my mind would never think of me trying. I am proud of what my body has done during yoga for the past two weeks, and hope to explore new moves that my body has in store for me.
ReplyDeleteChoreographing a dance routine is a new experience for me. Our group struggled mostly on trying to get everyone to do the same dance move simultaneously. We were often all on a different rhythm which made us look unorganized. But in the dance studio, we were able to dance in front of mirror which enabled us to see our mistakes and correct them. Some ways we could improve is by synchronizing as a group. After doing yoga for a second week, my body has become much more flexible, allowing me to perform some of the dance moves I struggled doing last week.
ReplyDeleteAfter going through this week I have realized that choreographing a dance routine for a group is incredibly hard, especially since we are all beginner dancers. It ts even difficult to come up with dance moves that connect with the music rhythm wise . However, the most difficult part about working in a group is working with the different ability levels of each dancer. Its hard to make a perfomance nice when all the people in the group cannot do certain moves. It is very challenging to work around this issue, but after going to the studio I have noticed that if we do simple moves and synchronize our hand movements we can make our performance enjoyable and funny. Also after the second week of doing yoga I have started running better in my track meets and have become more flexible.

ReplyDeleteChoreographing dance routines is something I really enjoy doing. It gives me my own sense of leadership, especially since I am not much of a leader outside of this particular field. It is fun to dance with people and it makes me feel happy to see a group of people doing the same moves in unison--moves that I constructed! It is challenging, however. It is difficult to work with people who have a hard time getting a move correct, or people who do not pay attention. This tends to get in the way of the group moving on as a whole. After visiting the studio, I feel that actually being able to see what I am doing will help me improve my moves, and that goes for everyone else as well. After doing yoga the second week, I have noticed that I am gradually getting more flexible, and that my sinuses are opening up.
ReplyDeleteMy experience with choreographing a dance routine with my group has been great.I have had a great time learning new moves with the group members. When I listen to the song it makes me dance and move with more passion. The most challenging aspect about working in a group is when everyone does not agree. Also when the team members have no idea of knowing how to dance. Also is a challenge for some people because there are more people that have more experience dancing than others. Like some of the students that do know how to dance well and there are students that still need to get better and move with more passion. After visiting the studio I see that I have improved better by dancing in front of a mirror because it made me feel with more confidence and also made me think that I knew what I was doing. Also made me sure of myself by doing all this incredible moves that I never had done before. Others ways I think people could get better would be by dancing in front of a mirror and also by seen their own mistakes that couldnt fix because they didn't see what they were doing right or wrong. After doing yoga for the second week I see that this type of work gets myself relaxed and makes me calm down. I really enjoyed having yoga in the morning because it gives me a time to let the problems out of my life and just worry about getting into the exercises. Also I see that I have become more flexible after doing yoga for this two weeks.
ReplyDeleteMy experiences with choreographing a dance with my group have been good. Many of us have ideas and after we share them with each other, we actually put them together so that we can make up a great dance.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of challenge working with group because some of the students do not really like to participate and because there are people that like a song that I don't like.
Learning how to do Yoga was amazing because there are many positions that I could not do before that I can do now. For example, it helps me out in soccer because before a game I stretch the way we stretch in yoga. Yoga helps me out a lot because it makes me feel like I am much more flexible. In addition, now I taught my mom and sister how to practice yoga because I feel like it is going to help them out a lot in the future.
