Prior to this class, I have never had any experience dancing. At the beginning I was afraid of dancing in front of others because I thought I looked awkward doing it. Both the dancing and the yoga are new to me, so I know very little about them. But after doing yoga, I felt rejuvenated. I think that doing yoga can be healthy for my body by making me more flexible. After watching the film "Shall We Dance," I thought ballroom dancing was fun but looked difficult. I look forward into learning new dances in this class.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have had prior dance experience. I joined this dance class last year during spring phase. I have been dancing since I was about twelve years old, but I have never been taught. When it comes to dancing, I am not afraid to dance in front of others because I am comfortable with displaying my passion/talent. Since I was in this class before, I learned a considerable amount of yoga. I know a few balancing poses, breathing exercises, and stretches. After doing yoga this first week, I feel that yoga can be beneficial to me in a number of different ways. It will definitely help me strengthen and activate certain muscles that I do not normally use. Yoga also helps relieve stress. After watching the film “Shall We Dance”, I am a bit more appreciative of ballroom dancing. While watching it, I thought about how much fun it must have been for the actors to actually learn the different dances. Ballroom dancing is very special. I learned how to ballroom dance last year, and it was an amazing experience.

ReplyDeletePrior to this Spring Phase I have not had any dancing experiences. During this class we began practicing yoga and strengthening our core and improving our balance, I don't know much about yoga but it`s fun to do in the mornings. After this first week i believe that yoga was beneficial to my flexibility and helps loosen my body. In the movie the man was embarrassed about ballroom dancing in the beginning, but he kept improving and ended up joining a competition. I thought the movie was a great way to show us that you can be good at whatever you put your mind to.
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't have prior formal dancing experience but I have danced at parties. I'm not afraid to dance in front of others because everybody in the class is dancing. I know yoga is about flexibility and balance. After doing yoga this week, its been easier to touch my toes and my balance has improved. The film "Shall We Dance" has changed my opinion on ballroom dancing. Before watching the movie i thought ballroom dancing was slow and boring. However, its more interesting than I expected with dances such as the quickstep.
ReplyDeletePrior to being in this class I have had dance experience. Dances like Michael Jackson, Caribbean dances and pop dances. The reason why I like these dances is because I get to open myself up to new things and different dance styles. I get to choreograph different dances and get to explore different cultures of dances and moves. When it comes to dancing, I'm not afraid to dance in front of others, the reason is because I'm used to being on stages and doing different events where it requires me to perform or compete in front of others. I like to perform in front of others because it allows me to show others the amount of work that I put in.The only thing that I knew about yoga prior to being in the class is that, it's a time where you can stretch and relax your body. After doing yoga for the first week, I can really see a change in my body when I do different activities. The reason why I feel yoga can be beneficial to me is because it allows me to stretch and relieve the tension in my body. I have never really decided to do yoga, each time my mom would go she would invite me but I always found an excuse not to go. Now I think I’m ready to go with her when she goes to yoga. After watching Shall We Dance, my thoughts about ballroom dancing is very amorous. I can see when people ball room dance , they feel care free. Although learning how to ballroom dance will be difficult, the work that you put in, you will be able to see the results. I look forward to dancing this year with the intention of dancing to the best of my ability.
ReplyDeleteNo I have not had prior experience dancing but after this week I have seen that dancing is very intense and a lot of fun. Personally I'm not scared of dancing in front of others because I don't care about what people think about the stuff I do so if you like it great if you don't that's fine. What I know about yoga is that it is very relaxing but in some cases tiring and difficult. Yoga is great to improve balance strengthen and stretch the muscles. Within this first week yoga has been beneficial to me because I feel that I have gotten more flexible. I have also seen a little inprovment in balance. After seeing the film shall we dance my perspective on ballroom dancing has changed drastically. For one I thought that ballroom dancing was for women not men but I saw that a lot of men actually do this. Ballroom dancing is very good also to get girls. Which I never really thought about. It also helps with hip movement and a great excersice.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have had prior dancing experience. I actually dance at parties and have also danced at my family members weddings. Im not really afraid to dance in front of anybody, seeing as how when I dance at parties it's always in a circle where anyone can see me. I never did or took part in yoga. I always do stretch before I run a race in track though, so I think I know a little about it. After doing yoga this week I have felt way better at practice and my legs have started to feel lighter and lighter. My breathing has also gotten better, especially for short races because I can control it a little now. After seeing “Shall we Dance” I have become a little interested in ballroom dancing, especially the foot work. The smoothness and fluidity of their movements also intrigued me.

I know you need to be flexible for Yoga.
I feel like I would need this so that i can become a better fencencer.
I have a better understanding of the beauty and the work inside of Ballroom dancing.

ReplyDeleteThe only time I have ever danced prior to this is in my old school for a group assignment. I am not afraid to dance in front of others as long as i am familiar with the routine. I know nothing about yoga other than what I have learnt so far. based on the yoga i have done so far i think yoga will beneficial to me in the way that it makes me more flexible and improves my core strength. after watching the film " Shall We Dance" I have learnt it might me hard the first few days but will gradually be easier for me to do.

ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to dancing in front of people it is really hard for me to perform a dance because I get nervous easily. However, when is time to dance in front of people, I suck it up and do what I have to do.
When I heard about yoga I thought of it as a meditation practice, but now I know what it really is and how to practice yoga at home.
After doing yoga this first week, I feel yoga can be beneficial to me in many ways. One of the ways that it is beneficial is that it can help me get more flexible and can help me out when I play soccer.
After watching the film "Shall We Dance" my thoughts on ballroom dancing are that anyone can learn and be able to perform well in front of many people. John Clark put a lot of effort to learn how to dance, this way he can be able to perform in front of many people.
